Nalle/Nall History

Martin Nalle was born in 1675 in England. He immigrated to Virginia in 1701. In Essex, Virginia in 1702, he married Mary Jane Aldin, who was born August 21, 1681 in Christ Church Parish, Middlesex, Virginia to Robert Aldin and Ellianor Willis. Martin and Mary Jane had eight children: John (1703, VA), Winifred (1705, VA), Elizabeth "Betty" (1706, VA), Martin II (1707, VA), Amey (1709, VA), Agness (1712, VA), Richard (1716, VA), Nathan (1721, VA). Martin, Sr. was married a second time to a woman named Abigail; I don't know why he separated from Mary Jane. Martin died on August 20, 1728 in South Farnum Parish, Essex, VA and he is buried in the Nall Family Cemetery, Tappahannock, Essex, Virginia. Mary Jane died in March 1734 in Essex, Virginia and is buried there.

Nathan Nalle was born in 1721 in Essex, Virginia. In 1743 he married a woman named Sarah who was born in 1725. They had six children: Martin (1745, VA), John (1745/1750, VA), Mary (1747, VA), Elizabeth (1755), James (1760, NC), Richard (1762, NC). Nathan died in December 1802 in Clarke, Georgia. Sarah died sometime after 1802.

Richard Nall was born about 1762 in Johnston, North Carolina. About 1792, he married Margaret "Peggy" Eldridge, who was born about 1775 in Georgia. They had 10 children: Fetna (1793), Eldridge (1795, GA), Haney (1797), Nathan (1799, GA), Mary E. (1801), Thomas J. (1804, GA), Leah (1806), Middleton F. (1807, GA), Samuel (1811), Hiram (1814, GA). Richard died in 1818 in Clarke, Georgia. Peggy died around 1830-1840 in Henry, Georgia.

Thomas J. Nall was born about 1804 in Jackson County, Georgia. In the 1827 Georgia Land lottery, Thomas J. Nall of McDonald's District in Clarke County, Georgia, drew lot No. 41 in District 10, Section 3 which was in Troup County, Georgia. Around 1828, he married Catharine Wallace, who was born about 1800 also in Georgia. They had five children: Margaret J. (1831), John Middleton (1833, GA), Nathan H. (1836), Davis R. (1840), D.L.A. (1844, daughter).

Following his marriage, he moved to Henry County, Georgia, where he was enumerated in the 1830 census. It shows Thomas, his wife and one female child under age 5 [Margaret]. In Meriwether County, Georgia on November 5, 1834 Thomas Nall deeded to his brother Nathan Nall 202 1/2 acres in the 11th District of Meriwether County. Thomas J. Nall was also listed in the 1840 census of Meriwether County (page 126), though I don't have an image for this yet.

On August 7, 1850, Thomas J. Nall and his family were enumerated in Meriwether County: Thomas J. Nall (46), Catharine (50), J.M. (17), N. H. (14), D.R. (10), D.L.A. (6). Thomas and John Middleton are listed as farmers; the whole family was born in Georgia.

About 1854 Thomas and his family moved to Rusk County, Texas where they were listed in the 1860 census. Catherine died after 1860 and before December 23, 1861 in Rockwall, Rusk County, TX.

In 1870 and 1880, Thomas J. Nall was living with his daughter, Margaret J. (Nall) Scoggins and her family. Thomas died after 1880.

Margaret J. Nall was born in 1830 or 1831 in Georgia. She married Harris H. Scoggin.
