Chapter 13: Pennington-Dykes

Pennington-Dykes Family

Lee Roy Pennington was born on March 4, 1905 in Mississippi. Around 1928, he married Roxie Mae Dykes who had been born on November 6, 1909 in Alabama. They had four children, Jimmie Nell (1929), Roy Leo (1931), Leburn Orville (1935) and Anna Grace (1937). Lee Roy did in November 1971 and is buried in the Crossroads Cemetery in Crossett, Arkansas. Roxi Mae died in August 1993 and is buried in Dickinson, Texas.

The 1930 census for Lamar, Alabama shows their young family: Roy (25), Roxie M. (20), Jimmie N. (10/12). The census shows they've been married for about 2 years. Everyone and their parents were born in Alabama. Roy is a general farmer.

Jimmie Nell Pennington is still living so I'll only note here that she married Basil Kenneth Moore and had four children. She was divorced from Basil and remarried Dr. Granville Jimmy Hayes.

Roy Leo Pennington was born on March 3, 1931 in Alabama. He married a woman named Mary and one child, Kerry. He was divorced from Mary and remarried Brenda Roloff. Leo and Brenda had one son, Ronald "Ronnie" Leo. Leo had a career in the Navy and he served in both World War II and the Korean War. He died in 1986 in Hitchcock, TX.

Leburn Orville Pennington was born on January 1, 1935 in Arkansas. He married Gale Beach and had two children, Leburn Dwayne and Adam Orville. He was in the Marine Corps and received a Purple Heart. He was a road and bridge construction supervisor.

Anna Grace Pennington is still living so I'll only mention that she married Terrence Edward "Terry" Huff and they had two children.
