Chapter 10: Moore-Blaine

Moore-Blaine

John Walter Moore (also Walter John) was born on September 1, 1893 in Winston County, Mississippi. (SS#432-24-7488) He was in the Army, perhaps during World War I or II. He was first a farmer and later a butcher. He married Alma Della Blaine between 1913 and 1918 and they had seven children, the first of which died in infancy on November 21, 1918. The surviving children were James David "J.D." (1922), Harold (1924), Raymond (1925), Basil Kenneth (1926), Alma Sue (1931) and Billy Blaine (1934).

On the 1920 census in Egypt, Ashley County, Arkansas: Walter (25) and Alma (23) appear. They are already married but don't have any children yet. Walter was working on a cattle farm.

On the 1930 census in Winston, Mississippi (Northeast, District 8): Walter J. (35), Alma (33), James D. (8), Harrold (6), and Basil (4 2/12) all show up. They are living on Wise Road. Walter J. is a farmer. They and all their parents were born in Mississippi. That would make Walter born in 1894 instead of 1893. It also says they were married in either 1918 or 1919.

Alma died on October 10, 1970 in Crossett, Arkansas. Walter died on April 21, 1982, also in Crossett.

James David "J.D." Moore is still living so I'll only mention that he was in the Navy during World War II, married Alene Pennington and had three children.

Harold Moore was born on February 12, 1924. He was a Navy Pilot in World War II and he died when his plane was shot down in 1944.

Raymond was born around 1925 and died before 1967. I don't know much else.

Basil Kenneth Moore was born on February 25, 1926 in Crossett, Arakansas. (His SS# was 430-38-7186.) He married Jimmie Nell Pennington in the Fall of 1945 and lived in Alvin, Texas. They had four children who are all still living. Basil served in the Navy during World War II and was a mailman in Alvin after the war. He divorced Jimmie Nell. He remarried Alma Josephine Kettler on September 15, 1971 but they had no additional children. Basil died in June 1989 in Sante Fe, Texas. Both his wives, Jimmie Nell and Alma Josephine, are still living.

Alma Sue Moore was born on September 3, 1931. She was educated at Arkansas A&M Nursing School and was a registered nurse. Alma married Dewey Dean Morgan who was born on September 16, 1930. They had four children who are still living. Alma died in 2000. I do not know if Dewey is still alive or not.

Billy Blaine Moore may still be living so I'll only list that he was in the Army in World War II and stayed in the army as a mortician for his entire career. He was married twice, the second time to Lettie Brantly, and has two suriving children.
